'It's a great community park': Dundonald Park gets $500K facelift

Efforts to renew Dundonald Park on Somerset Street West and Lyon Street North in Ottawa's Centretown neighbourhood are moving forward, with area councillor Ariel Troster releasing a public survey to gather residents' priorities ahead of a planned renewal project next summer. CTV's Kimberley Johnson speaks with Troster, who says approximately $500,000 in ward cash-in-lieu funds has been set aside for the project and describes the scope as "carte blanche" for new ideas, and with Centretown resident Regina Ash, a years-long park user who says she would like to see the newly installed splash pad connected directly to the playground. Resident Justin Byrne says he would like to see a dedicated stage or performance space to draw people in throughout the day with events, musicians and artists. Some residents say they have found drugs and needles in the park, and Troster says improving amenities and programming can help make the more-than-120-year-old space safer for all users. The survey is available on Troster's website until July.
