In November 2025, I participated in an artist exhibition and competition celebrating the historic neighborhood of Murray Hill in Manhattan, New York. My six paintings depicting local landmark buildings were accepted into the show—and three of them sold! In this video, I share the three remaining original paintings still available, including details of the famous Gingerbread House on East 38th Street and the historic Smith & Court stables facade. Each framed artwork comes with a full-color exhibition catalog, giving you a unique piece of Manhattan history to display in your home. If you love New York architecture, small watercolor paintings, or collecting original artwork, this video shows the pieces up close and explains how you can purchase them. Bowdoin . Located near Park Avenue, this former stable is known for its fairy-tale appearance, featuring decorative stone horse heads, a bulldog, and unique stepped gables. Key Historical Facts: Original Purpose: Built as a private stable for wealthy residents in the nearby mansions. Conversion: Converted into a garage in 1918 by Mrs. George S. Bowdoin. Architecture: Known for its distinctive, fanciful, and ornate design, often likened to a storybook home. Sniffen court Sniffen Court, located in Murray Hill, is one of NYC's smallest and most exclusive historic districts, featuring 10 charming Romanesque Revival brick carriage houses built between 1863 and 1864 . Originally designed to house horses and carriages, these buildings were converted into residential homes and studios in the 1920s as automobiles replaced horses . Key Aspects of Sniffen Court History: Origins: The carriage houses were constructed around 1863–1864 to serve as stables for wealthy residents, providing a secluded, off-street area to minimize noise and odor. The Name Mystery: While traditionally named after builder John Sniffen, historical research has found no concrete evidence linking him to the court's construction. Artistic & Cultural Hub: In the 1920s, the stables were converted into residences and artists' studios, including that of renowned sculptor Malvina Hoffman, who created the, now famous, Greek horsemen plaques on the back wall. Distinction: It was designated a NYC Historic District in 1966 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Pop Culture: The alley is famous as the location for the cover shot of The Doors' 1967 album, Strange Days. Famous Residents: The area has been home to celebrities such as composer Cole Porter, actor David Copperfield, and musicians Lenny Kravitz. Current Status: Today, it remains a private, gated enclave known for its high-value, historic residential properties. #Inspiration, #educational, #senior, #seniorwatercolorist, #watercolor, #howto, #murray hill nyc, #murray hill art,#new york architecture art, #nyc watercolor painting, #manhattan art #original watercolor painting for sale, #nyc landmark buildings, #gingerbread house nyc painting #new york city art collectors, #small watercolor paintings, #historic manhattan art, #urban sketch watercolor, #nyc architecture painting, #watercolor architecture art, #art exhibition nyc, #original art for sale, #manhattan history art, #new york artist, #urban architecture watercolor,#small framed watercolor murray hill art new york architecture art nyc watercolor painting manhattan art original watercolor painting for sale nyc landmark buildings gingerbread house nyc painting new york city art collectors small watercolor paintings historic manhattan art urban sketch watercolor nyc architecture painting watercolor architecture art art exhibition nyc original art for sale manhattan history art new york artist urban architecture watercolor small framed watercolor art
