This is the Sonicake King of Twins I’m demoing in the video — a dual-channel drive box with overdrive, boost, and distortion modes on tap. For a budget-priced unit it can get properly pleasing tones, and stacking the channels opens up loads of different flavours (as long as you don’t just dime everything and make it harsh).
Pros
- +Dual channels for stacking and switching
- +Overdrive/boost/distortion modes give a lot of range
- +Tone and presence controls helped balance darker pickups
- +Made a cheap amp sound more pleasing than on its own
Cons
- -Voicings between the two channels aren’t massively different
- -Needed higher gain settings to get a really noticeable change
- -Stacking with high gain can get harsh and noisy
