At the SMMT Test Day I took eBay’s modified 2005 BMW E46 330Ci Coupe for a proper quick drive review to find out whether modern tech upgrades like Apple CarPlay, reverse camera, HUD, LSD, strut braces and refreshed suspension can transform one of BMW’s greatest analogue driver’s cars into the perfect everyday enthusiast machine. This silver BMW E46 330i Coupe started life as a standard 3.0-litre straight-six M54-powered rear-wheel-drive coupe producing 231bhp, before eBay upgraded it with modern electronics, handling upgrades, limited-slip differential, front and rear strut braces, improved suspension bushes, upgraded audio and OEM+ touches. The result? A car that still delivers classic BMW steering feel, perfect driving position, manual gearbox engagement and naturally aspirated straight-six soundtrack, while adding modern usability and tech convenience.
