I attempted my first proper sunrise timelapse in 10 years for the Fish Hawk documentary, and let’s just say New Mexico weather had its own plans! In this episode of the Fish Hawk series, I’m out in the river valley gathering essential B-roll for the spring section of my 2026 Osprey documentary. From battling unexpected clouds during a starburst timelapse to hunting for spring wildflowers amidst a drought, it was a day of testing gear and patience. I’m shooting with the "budget L-series" Canon 28-70mm f2.8 STM and the 100-400mm to capture the beauty of the valley. Will I have to reshoot the spring footage, or is it a wrap? Subscribe to follow the journey! 📌 The full Fish Hawk documentary is scheduled to drop in November 2024. 🕒 Timestamps: 0:00 - The Plan: Sunrise Starburst Timelapse 0:44 - First Timelapse in 10 Years (Settings & Gear) 1:13 - Canon 28-70mm f2.8 STM: The Budget L-Series? 1:37 - Waiting Out the Clouds 1:59 - Raking Light Over the Valley 2:22 - Is Spring B-Roll Wrapped? 2:44 - Osprey Chicks & Documentary Update 📷 Gear used in this video: Canon R6 Mark III: https://amzn.to/4dLjhSc Canon RF 100-400mm Lens: https://amzn.to/4sBQ4hq Shure LensHopper Microphone: https://amzn.to/4c8hm97 K&F Variable ND Filters: https://amzn.to/4bRf8d4 K&F Fluid Head: https://amzn.to/3PJrf4o ⚠️ Disclaimer: Some of the links above are Amazon affiliate links.
