Bloom Ensemble Strings caught me off guard— I came in thinking it was just “another string plugin,” but it can do a lot. Between the key/tempo locking, the sample edit tools, and that sequencer, I can trigger full moving string phrases with one note and still trap it out fast.
Pros
- +Locks to your chosen key and BPM-warps to session tempo
- +Sequencer lets you build evolving multi-layer phrases easily
- +Performance controls (halftime, double speed, reverse, octave) are quick and musical
- +Deep sample edit options (playback modes, looping, direction, start/end, pitch)
Cons
- -Can use more CPU if you stack multiple instances (bouncing to audio helps)
- -So many options in edit/sequencer may feel deep at first
