Culturing the Best Live Food for your fish at Home (Freshwater and Saltwater) | Blue Reef Tank In this video, I’ll be sharing how I culture one of the best live food to feed your freshwater or saltwater fish - They are WHITE WORMS! White worms are one of the most popular live foods among the fish hobby and are suitable for both saltwater and freshwater fishes. They are high in protein and good fats, making an amazing food to support healthy growth of your lovely fishes. On top of that, they do not spoil your tank water as they stay alive for a short time (saltwater & freshwater). My fish loves these wiggling worms. This is how I culture white worms: - Buy a starter white worm culture (I got mine from Ebay) - Get some plastic containers with a few holes on the lid for aeration - Use potting mix as the culture media and prepare it as in the video (Microwaving and keeping it moist) - Prepare a piece of bread topped with yoghurt and dry yeast as food source for the white worms - Place the bread on top of the culture media - Keep the container in a temperature-controlled environment between the range of 12 – 20°C(I use a wine cooler set at 13°C) - Make sure to change the bread every 2 days - As the worm populations grows, you can slowly add more bread pieces - The culture should be ready in one month and you can now split the culture for more white worms. To harvest white worms, simply remove the white worms that are on the lid or sides of the container. I rinse them with RODI water to remove any excess dirt. Now, you can feed your fishes and watch them go crazy over the white worms.
