If levels are not set properly, this can result in distorted or noisy audio. The F1 can output a test tone (1kHz sine wave at -6dBFS) used as reference to adjust the level of a digital camera audio input. First, turn down the input gain on your camera. Disable automatic gain if enabled. Please refer to your camera’s operation manual for instructions. Connect the F1 output to your camera’s input using a 3.5mm stereo cable. While holding the STOP button, press the Record Format button. This will enable the test tone. Use the volume plus and minus buttons to adjust the F1 output level. While checking the audio level meter on your camera, adjust the F1 output level until the camera’s audio meter never exceeds -6dBFS, or until the F1 volume reaches 100. If the F1 volume is at 100 but the camera’s audio meter is below -6dBFS, increase your camera’s input level in small increments until it is at about -6dBFS. To stop the test tone, press the Record Format button while holding the STOP button.
