While I have over a decade worth of experience running in mountains, I am a total newbie when it comes to backpacking/thru hiking! To prep for my upcoming trip of the 212 Mile/340 Km John Muir Trail, I decided to hike up to our local summit of Mount Baldy (10,064 feet/3,067 meters) and camp overnight at the top. What turned out to be a fitful night of sleep, was also a brief and awesome windy adventure on my favorite local mountain. Will detail my gear later!
