Is race day only about chasing your fastest time—or is there more to stepping onto the start line? Not every race has to be an all-out effort. Sometimes the goal isn’t a PB… sometimes it’s to soak in the atmosphere, enjoy the journey, or simply reconnect with why we run in the first place. I’ve been questioned many times for not “taking running seriously” because I’ll stop to dance with street performers, enjoy the crowd energy, or take in the moment instead of staying locked into Zone 5 from start to finish. But here’s the truth: every runner arrives with a different intention. Yes, some races are for performance and personal bests—but surely there’s room for joy, community, and connection too. This video is a reminder that however you choose to run your race—fast, slow, fun, competitive, or anything in between—it’s valid. And it deserves respect.
