Since what seems to be from the dawn of climbing, there has been bolting wars. Some feel that adding bolts to the rock is to deface it. Others feel that climbing should be more inclusive and safer. I find myself somewhere in the middle. There are good arguments on both sides and I feel that the adding of bolts, needs to be decided on a case-by-case bases. Things like ethics of the area also come into play which can make things pretty complicated. My opinion is that bolts should be expertly installed and agreed upon by more than a couple people. One of the reasons for this is because the history of the bolts should be recorded for added safety. I also feel that they should only be installed when its 100 percent necessary. When it come to Highlining it seems that it's always at 100 percent. Highlining is becoming a very popular sport and one single person shouldn’t have the right obstruct the pursuit of happiness of so many. Let me know what your opinions are down below.
