In Italy, the Puglia region is home to the Sacra Corona Unita, also known as the fourth mafia. Far less famous than the Cosa Nostra, the Camorra, and the 'Ndrangheta, this criminal group is nonetheless very active. It has infiltrated all sectors of society, from local businesses to the public administration. With 5,000 members, almost all men, it specializes in drug trafficking and extortion.
