Many mountain bikers would be horrified at the prospect of paving backcountry trails, and nobody is suggesting anyone do that. When you're in an urban setting and trails are part of city infrastructure, they need to be accessible to everyone, work in any weather, and require as little maintenance as possible. Armoring MTB trails with asphalt, concrete, or rock armor makes total sense in certain situations, and they're fun to boot!
