Hello legends — in this video I’m walking you through Claude Code’s massive new upgrade: Channels. Channels lets you control a Claude Code session that’s running on your computer directly from Telegram or Discord. So you can start a session at home, leave it running, head out, and then manage your AI coding agent from your phone by sending messages and getting responses back inside your chat app. I cover the full setup for both Telegram and Discord, including the gotchas. This feature is still in research preview, so expect a couple of bugs, and you need Claude Code v2.1.8+ for it to work. You also have to authenticate using the Claude.ai login (the OAuth flow) — if you’re using console/API key auth, it won’t work. For Telegram, I create a bot via BotFather, install the Telegram plugin, configure the bot token, restart the Claude session with the channels flag, and pair it from a DM. For Discord, I create an app in the developer portal, enable Message Content Intent, generate the OAuth URL with the right permissions, install/configure the Discord plugin, then pair via a DM. The big takeaway: after pairing, lock it down with the allow-list policy command so only you can message your session. Also note it’s “isolated” — messages sent from Telegram/Discord show in the terminal session, but messages you type in the terminal don’t get pushed back to Telegram/Discord.
