Wild Camping Gone Wrong! It started off so good!

Our wild camping trip started off so well! We were hiking in the sunshine but when we set up our wild camp the wind and rain started. We ended up wild camping in a storm. As we were putting up our backpacking tents the wind started. Shortly after the rain started. Before we knew it, a storm was brewing! Just before dark, the sky lit up with lightning followed by a huge crack of thunder. During the night the wind was relentless. Our wild camp setting was exposed put we were wild camping on Haystacks summit next to Innominate Tarn. Wild camping in the Lake District is one of the most amazing experiences you can ever have. However, you’ve got to be prepared to experience all 4 seasons, even camping in summer. We had no sleep due to the strong winds. Soon after we started hiking again, the rain came down. I don’t mind hiking in the rain but it got to the point where it was hurting our eyes! We got back on our motorbikes and went home via the passes in the torrential rain. It was certainly an adventure!
