Solo Backpacking The Dales Way - the PERFECT start!

The Dales Way hiking trail is a 80 mile long distance hike from Ilkley, Yorkshire to Windermere, Lake District. I chose to do the route backpacking carrying all my camping gear. I had a fantastic weather window allowing me to experience the Dales Way in all it's glory. On Day 1 I walked from Ilkley to Kettlewell Camping. I hiked past Bolton Abbey, Burnsall and Grassington walking through the Wharfedale Valley and alongside the River Wharfe. On Day 1 of this backpacking adventure I completed 24 miles.
