Have we FORGOTTEN what Backpacking and Wild Camping is really about?

I've come to the Lake District to go Wild Camping. I've brought my new Durston X Dome 1+ 2 tent with me along with lots of other new backpacking gear. During the hiking and camping I'll be discussing have we forgotten what wild camping is all about? There is a huge amount of camping gear out there and prices are constantly increasing along with pressures to go lighter. I wonder is people are becoming more interested in gear than they are backpacking and wild camping. I hope this video is a reminder that being out in spaces like the Lake District National Park are far more important than gear. Yes, it's good to have gear light enough to carry and to keep you safe and comfortable, but it's being out in the great outdoors that truly matters.
