The Big Agnes Pitchpine VST 1.5 has me a bit confused, and that’s exactly why I’m testing it. It’s a single-wall, fly-first pitch tent using HyperBead fabric with a 4,000 mm HH on the fly, but at $650 I want to understand what’s driving that cost once it’s been in real wet conditions.

Pros
- +HyperBead fly fabric with a 4,000 mm hydrostatic head rating
- +Fly-first pitch and fairly simple setup
- +Ability to roll back both door panels with magnetic toggles/tiebacks
Cons
- -Very high price ($650) without carbon poles or DCF
- -Floor fabric is very thin (15D) with lower HH (1,500 mm)
- -Some design choices feel questionable until proven in the field
