A lot of people are confused about upgrading to Ryzen 5 5500/5600/5600X/4500 on B450 (and even older AM4 boards) because nobody wants to waste money and end up with a black screen. So I tested it myself. In this video I unbox the Ryzen 5 5500 (I got it for around 8,000 rupees / about $86) and I install it on my B450 setup with an RX 6600 to see if it actually boots and gets detected properly. After powering on, I got the “New CPU installed. Press Y to reset fTPM” message, pressed Y, and in BIOS the Ryzen 5 5500 was detected perfectly—so yes, it works. But the main takeaway is simple: you must have the latest BIOS. I also tested another B450 board where it booted once, then after shutdown it gave a black screen with no display because the BIOS was too old. I explain what to do in that situation (you may need an older CPU to boot and update BIOS), and I show the safe BIOS update steps—download from your motherboard support page, use Q-Flash/Instant Flash, and don’t let power go off during the update.
