About This Video

Figma Config 2025 is right around the corner (I’ve already got my London ticket), but this video isn’t about what’s coming—it’s about what’s already here. While everyone’s hyped for the generative AI magic, the Figma team has quietly shipped a bunch of genuinely useful updates this year, and I’m breaking down the 14 new features I actually love. Some of these are AI features that were already in Figma but have improved drastically, and a few are those “finally” basic features that should’ve existed ages ago. I start with the upgraded Make Image models (GPT Image 1, Google Imagen 3, Titan v2), plus the simple trick to generate the exact dimensions you need by prompting inside a frame. Then I show the new Edit Image feature (it’s honestly impressive), AI Replace Content for repeating components, and Auto Translate with way more language support than before. After that, I cover workflow wins like the new jump-to-component shortcut toggle, copying/duplicating local styles, UI3 resizable panels, and the built-in accessibility color contrast checker. The back half is packed: better variable management (copy/paste variables, reorder modes/collections), the upgraded eyedropper that can grab variables (and even create them), one-click collapse layers, and locking image aspect ratios for responsive cards. And the last two are insane: AI auto-rename layers that’s finally accurate, and AI-generated prototyping interactions that shocked me with how correct it was.
