About This Video

UX is dead. AI is taking over. Companies aren’t hiring designers anymore. You’ve heard all that, and I get why it freaks people out—especially after the brutal big tech layoffs (Meta, Amazon, Google, Shopify… it was a lot, and many of those designers were solid). But I’m a senior UX designer with 10+ years in the industry, and I’ll say it straight: UX isn’t dead. It’s evolving. What’s dying is lazy design—pixel-pushing with no real thinking behind it. In this video, I break down the reality with actual data (job growth projections, ROI on UX investment, and why layoffs were more of a post-COVID hiring correction than “design failed”). Then I talk about the AI side: yes, tools can generate screens, copy, layouts, even design-system-ish outputs in seconds. But they still don’t understand context—like why a specific user feels anxious in onboarding, or what accessibility really demands for someone with dyslexia. The opportunity right now is learning to use AI to speed up your workflow—brainstorming, moodboarding, generating options—then refining with real user insight. UX is getting smarter, sharper, and more valuable if you mature with it.
