In this video, I take you on a journey through the hi-fi shops that shaped my Audioholic obsession—from my teenage years to becoming a full-fledged audio engineer. Growing up on Long Island, NY, it all started with listening to my older brother’s hi-fi systems and being completely mesmerized by the experience. From there, I spent countless hours exploring legendary stores like Lafayette and Crazy Eddie before eventually moving to Florida. My upgrade path from boomboxes to true hi-fi took me through now-defunct retailers like Lechmere, McDuff, Circuit City, Sound Advice, and the privately owned Cooper for Stereo, where I learned how to bench test, repair, and properly set up audio systems while studying Electrical Engineering in college.
