At the beginning of this month Apple has released the iOS 14.5 Beta version for developers… And in this new update it has the new privacy features that will block apps like Facebook from tracking your activity online. 🛠 Resources 🛠 - 📝 Free Masterclass on the 5 Steps to Predictable Appointments Each Month: http://www.salesappointmentsmasterclass.com - 📊 My Recommended Best Funnel Building Software: https://www.skylinesocial.com/kartra - 💻 My Recommended Best LinkedIn Automation Tool: https://www.skylinesocial.com/meetalfred 0:00 - New Facebook Privacy Changes in iOS 14.5 1:45 - How will this Apple update affect your Facebook Ads? 3:37 - Will Facebook lose data for targeted ads? 6:23 - Apple iOS Privacy Update 14.5 Release Date 8:04 - How to verify your domain name with Facebook So right now, Apps have the option to ask you whether you want to allow them to track you or not… But with this new updates ALL apps will need to ask for your permission first before tracking you. So you’ll see a message popup that looks kinda like this and you can choose whether you want the app to track you or not. And when given the choice, “do you want this app to track your activity?” it’s pretty obvious most people are going to say “No…” So what does this mean for you and your business if you run or are thinking of running Facebook Ads? Well first of all we now know that the new Apple privacy update is ALMOST here and unless anything changes - because Apple have delayed releasing this in the past - it does look like the new Apple privacy features are going to be released in this new update. Now in terms of the release date, we don’t yet know for certain exactly when iOS 14.5 will be released to the public, but if I had to guess I would say it’s going to be some time in March 2021. But we’ll have to wait and see to know for sure. Now if you’re wondering, how will this update affect me and what do I need to do to prepare? Well first of all, in my last Apple Privacy Update for Facebook I went through in more detail who this privacy update will affect the most. And just to give you a quick summary…. First - this privacy update will mainly just affect businesses that have an app, that are promoting an app or run ads on apps such as through the Facebook audience network. Second - If you run a business where you generate leads, appointments and clients on Facebook Ads, you’ll notice most of your conversions are happening on the Facebook or Instagram news feed rather than the Facebook audience network. So in terms of getting conversions, I don’t think you will see a big difference once iOS 14 comes out. Again, the businesses that will mainly be affected are those that run ads promoting apps or run ads on apps. Or even apps themselves that rely on ads for revenue are probably going to be affected negatively too. But what if you’re thinking… Well, doesn’t Facebook use data from app activity to show more targeted ads? Well yes, that is true. And they will lose some data with this. But I don’t think it will be a huge impact on the performance of Facebook ads, because app data isn’t where they get most of their data anyway. Most of their data comes from the millions of websites that have the Facebook pixel or Facebook share and like buttons installed. And nothing is going to be changing on those websites. This new privacy update is only going to affect Apple apps. Not websites. So I don’t think there will be any significant impact either negatively or positively when this new update comes out… Again, as long as you don’t have a mobile app business. Finally - is there anything you can do NOW to prepare? Well, there’s not a lot you need to do right now, but Facebook does say you MIGHT need to verify your domain name. So if you want to be extra prepared, I would just go ahead and verify your domain name with Facebook right now, just in case they later make this mandatory. To verify your domain name, just go to your Facebook Business Manager Business settings, Brand Safety and click on Domains and you can verify your domain name in there. So that’s it for now, hope that helps!
