Casting New Coins From Graphite Molds (PEOPLE ALWAYS MAKE THIS MISTAKE!)

In this video I'll be testing out some new graphite coin molds to use for metal casting. I modeled these coin molds up in Blender and machined them to specs. I'll be testing these by melting down some scrap zinc that I've used in the past. If you're new to metal casting and haven't used graphite molds before, be very careful with them as they can break very easily if you drop them on the ground or bang on them. Also, do not overheat your molds. I'll repeat, DO NOT OVERHEAT your molds. Graphite molds technically do not need to be heated at all before using unless there is any moisture on them. If you overheat them, they are more likely to break and will wear down very quickly. Don't ever put your graphite molds in a furnace or kiln either and try and melt the metal into it that way.
