Warm Audio WA47

If you’re shopping around the $1,000 mark, the WA47 is honestly one of the better buys in that range. To my ears it doesn’t truly do the U47 “zoom lens” midrange thing, but it does sound good—more hi-fi and finished—so it can absolutely work for vocals and general studio use.

-Doesn’t fully capture the true U47 midrange behavior
-If you want a more vintage-leaning vibe, other mics may fit better
