In this video I break down why paying $20,000 for a niche B2B lead database is insane—and how I cloned the exact same thing for free. There are basically two types of lead gen people: the ones who overpay because they “don’t have time,” and the ones who overbuild because they want control. My approach is the third option: free, fast, scalable. I just steal the leads (aka scrape what’s already public) and build my own database. I start with Capterra because it already has the niche software categories (think ISVs like law practice management software). The trick is extracting all the company names quickly—copy the page, drop it into ChatGPT (GPT-4o works best), and have it output a clean list one line per company. Then I run an n8n workflow: pull the list from Google Sheets, loop each company, use Serper to Google “company name + CEO + LinkedIn,” and send the results to GPT to standardize the data (domain, CEO name, LinkedIn). Finally, I use ScraperCity to find the CEO email. End result: a hyper-targeted, enriched lead list you can cold email—without paying scammy database pricing.
