Hey y’all—this video is me introducing you to my new little van life companion, Jax. He’s about 3–4 months old, and even though I’ve had guinea pigs before, this is my first time figuring out how to travel and live full-time in my minivan with one. I show you his temporary floor setup (hello Walmart play space), what veggies he’s into (red bell pepper is a big win), and some of the little things I’m doing to help him warm up to me—like sitting nearby, talking softly, and even putting on some smooth jazz so he can get used to my voice and presence. I’m also recovering from a brutal stomach virus while trying to get my life back together—laundry, a messy van, and getting ready to head back to Arizona. I pull the van into the shop to charge my power stations and start experimenting with where Jax’s cage can safely fit. Spoiler: my handy dandy turtle measuring tape saved the day, and moving the front seat back about two inches made a big difference. This is definitely going to be an experiment, but I love the challenge—and I’m excited to bring you along while I figure out a routine that keeps Jax safe, comfy, and living the most adventurous guinea pig life possible.
