We knew that traveling down to Mexico and Central America that we wanted to prevent any damage due to some “known issues” so we decided to install Rekluse’s Torqdrive Clutch Pack. We knew it would improve the performance and increase reliability but we were skeptical if we’d notice a difference in the clutch lever pull. We were honestly blown away by how much lighter the lever pull was with the Torqdrive installed versus the stock clutch pack. While the 890 isn’t the exact same clutch pack as the stock 790, it was still easy to compare a stock clutch pack vs the Torqdrive clutch pack. I knew right away that this was a benefit I was going to appreciate on those long, technical days off-road. As you can see, the clutch plates are a bit different than the stock plates. Not only does the friction material cover more surface area, but the friction material used on Rekluse products is said to last up to 4 times the life compared to other clutches. I like how the Torqdrive was a simple install, basically just a drop-in part, that significantly improved the reliability of the 790. It was a nice peace of mind rolling south into Mexico knowing that if I had any issues, they wouldn’t be related to the stock clutch plates.
