If it wasn't for Tom (@the_hiking_hairdresser) giving me these shoes at checkpoint 5 and telling me I "can do this!" and that he would "see me at the finish line" (he did actually come and find me at the finish to quickly say well done) there's no way I would have completed one of the best athletic achievements of my life.
