Professor Zena Stein was a pioneering epidemiologist, HIV/AIDS researcher and lifelong activist for social justice and public health. After being forced to flee apartheid South Africa, she had an illustrious career at Columbia University. To discuss Stein's remarkable legacy, host Alfredo Morabia speaks with two people who knew her well. Trisha Abdul-Karim, a former student of Stein's, recalls her wisdom and visionary approach to addressing health inequities. Michel Warren, who leads a nonprofit Stein advised, describes her role as a mentor in HIV prevention research and advocacy.
