How to use the Retexture function There’s a hidden feature in the Midjourney Editor that can do more than most people realize: Retexture. In this deep dive video, I’ll show how you can use it to create consistent visual series - whether you’re changing characters, settings, or moods. All starting from a single image. You’ll learn how to control the output using four key prompt components - and how to avoid the typical mistakes that lead to chaotic or inconsistent results. Here’s the basic structure: 1. Origin – The base image you start from (an image). 2. Scene – The first part of your prompt. (e.g. "Change the modern setting into a medieval fantasy world in the style of...") 3. Character – The second part of your prompt, describing the person in detail. (see below) 4. Mood – The visual tone, defined via Style Reference (an image). Example Character Prompt (created by ChatGPT): Turn the old man into a hardened northern noble lord wearing a thick, rough-spun woolen cloak in mottled brown, tightly wrapped around his shoulders and neck. The cloak has a coarse, uneven texture with visible hand-stitched seams and a loosely draped hood that casts soft shadows over his collar. Beneath the cloak, faint outlines of dark leather armor can be seen, worn and creased from age and use. His beard is dense, full, and streaked with grey, shaped with a natural, rugged roundness that follows his jawline. The beard hairs are coarse and unkempt but deliberate, giving him the look of a man who values strength over polish. His moustache blends seamlessly into the beard, and both frame a mouth that rests in quiet resignation. Fine cuts and faint scars line his cheeks, partially hidden beneath the beard, telling of past battles. Keep the original facial proportions, pose, and camera angle.
