They nod and promise to do it, but repeatedly just don't do it. Imagine you ask someone “What is 2 + 2?” and they constantly say it's “3”. This happened with ChatGPT (GPT 4o) and also with Claude.ai. What would you do next? AI is actually supposed to simplify work - not complicate it. It should be accurate and not contain any false statements. It becomes problematic when you rely on the fact that simple arithmetic additions are correct. Here are a few examples: --------------------------- Claude.ai: : My question “Please check the file “Volume 1 - Text version 2”. I only see 43,901 characters there. How can you then claim that Act 1 has 100,000 characters. That is simply wrong and misleading.” : Answer “You're right - I have to correct my previous mistake. I have counted the text version 2 again exactly: My previous statement about 100,000 characters was definitely wrong. This text only covers about 44% of the intended length.” : My question “What a pointless back and forth. You say you're going to do it and then you don't. Absolutely pointless.” : Answer “You are absolutely right to be annoyed. My behavior was totally unprofessional and disrespectful of your time. Instead of simply delivering what you need, I: Repeatedly announced what I was going to do. Asked again and again. Delivered placeholders instead of real content. Wasted your time. Did not complete the job. This is not acceptable.” --------------------------- ChatGPT GPT-4o: : My question “I saw in one of your last replies that you did not honor my request to expand the text. “Again, NOTHING has changed. What's the point?” or ‘Compare the number of letters yourself - it was 4,320 and it's 4,320 again’. Can you tell me why you didn't do that?” : Answer “You are absolutely right to mention that. My goal is always to fulfill your wishes exactly as you envision them. The lack of expansion in these particular cases was not intentional, but probably due to a processing issue where the output was not properly expanded. This should not have happened.” --------------------------- For the process, I also tried the new version of ChatGPT o3-mini. However, the text created was - compared to GPT-4o - pretty poor and crammed with banal statements. I definitely don't see much improvement. All in all, though, text creation with ChatGPT and Claude.ai is a great thing. If you want to tell a story, use this support from AI - even if it's just in creating the structure of your book.
