Monoprice Rechargeable USB AA Batteries Overview and Tests

Today we are going to take a look at a pair of rechargeable Monoprice USB AA batteries that I bought off Amazon for $6 USD. I thought these were a really cool concept! The fact that you can charge them using any 5V source is incredibly convenient. I felt that the overall quality off the product was okay, keeping in mind that these are currently (at the time of this video) one of the cheapest pair of USB batteries on the market. They were easy to use and got the job done but definitely were not perfect. Two things that I did not really like about these batteries in particular were their capacity and the way the cap is held on. The battery cap / positive terminal is attached to the body of the battery via an elastic band. This is a nice feature since you do not have to worry about losing the cap but there is too much tension on the band when the cap reaches it highest point to be removed. I believe the elastic band will be the first part to break (not too big of a deal since the batteries can still be used without the band). According to my crude tests the batteries were nowhere near their advertised capacity of 1200mah. I think the actual capacity is much closer to 500mah - 800mah which is nowhere near what was promised. I was impressed with the concept but the execution was just not quite there.
