Oembimmerparts Product

OEMBimmerParts.com sponsored this video, and I genuinely like using them because the shipping is fast and the site is organized without a bunch of junk. They stock the popular BMW parts you actually need, and they focus on OEM brands (plus some quality aftermarket). If you’re hunting parts for an E90/N54 project, it’s a solid place to start.

Buy on Oembimmerparts

You'll be taken to Oembimmerparts to complete your purchase.

Pros

  • +Fast shipping (they’ve got multiple warehouses in the U.S.)
  • +Well-categorized site that’s easy to find parts on
  • +Carries OEM brands and some quality aftermarket options

Cons

  • -They didn’t carry the adapter I needed for the updated sensor on the old line

What 50sKid says

E the tire as if it was sitting on the ground so this thing's going to move up and your control arms are going to be straight and that's when you tighten the bolts on the bushings if you do it when they're they're down like this pitched down and you tighten up the bolts then when you put the car down on the ground what it's doing is it's twisting the rubber bushings and that will wear them out very much more prematurely so you don't want to do it that way do it the way I'm telling you Jack the thing up until you see the weight come off the Jack Sands yep there we go all right 18 wrench 18 socket actually I think I should go the other way here yeah better you now I know I talked to these correctly um in the video where I installed them and you can refer to that video if you're interested but this is the way I do it when I'm when I don't care as much about you know being correct on a video and stuff which I am on a video right now but um it in my with my car I know that just tight is good you can see this time I didn't take this Splash shield down all the way I just kind of loosened the front two bolts here which is all I have um and that's enough to get my wrench in here there we go so guys the hardest part of doing the rear shocks is dealing with this trim so you can get to the bolt on the top of the shock you got to take off this trim I happen to have these kinds of pliers um but if you don't have them you can just use side Cutters probably don't have to take the ones in the front off here there's enough room to kind of Bend this back and in the far corner there uh t40 gets this off okay and that trim pops off I have the fold down seats so I'm just going to fold them down but same thing if you don't have them basically you got to pull this back and sort of expose it oh there's one more up here cool so this comes back and down and that's it right there that's what we needed to get to get the six 16 mm that's the old amount that's it for up here and down here we just have 117 and that's it then all we do is sorry like of light so all you do is pull down on the shock just compress it you gotta get this part down too that's the top mount boom and you just get it out of there pull it out that's it so there's also the shock mount which is bolted in with e12s and uh I'm going to get it out because I bought new ones boom and then it just comes out okay that's what it looks like in my case mine are actually okay but you know about new ones cuz you never know here is my new one I'll just toss it in um this little cover was on here this one's pretty deteriorated I unfortunately did not buy new ones of those but I don't think it matters so here's this Mount right here that's that one this plate we're going to reuse it's sort of is covering it's like covering this guy right here so I think in this case I got to take it off and pry this out ah it's all messed up man it's all dry roded is what it is cool okay so we're reusing that guy because it's just a piece of metal and then this goes here like that and then this goes here like that because this goes over it and kind of covers it like that so yeah I'm going to use it there's still it's still good up here and then all you do is put it up in there compress it really and put it up in there it's going to be hard for me to get a shot of that but so there we go we just kind of find the hole compress it down and then put it down in place hopefully you can see that see how it goes right there and then we'll bolt it up I did not need to counter hold the bottom because of the friction on the other side all right and I bought a new shock mount for the top comes with integrated bolt maybe I have the yellow thing on wrong okay I have this top thing on incorrectly I put that on upside down so that that's the problem come down come down come down this got to get flipped around flipped around like that so that it's like that that was my problem that is my problem yepes and now my problem is the Mount okay all right I guess that's how it should be okay can we get it on now all right there we go finally caught yeah I didn't have that problem on the other side cuz I did it right okay so now here is where it starts spinning and what you got to do is get a ratcheting wrench if you have it hopefully you have it we'll go here and then we need a 6 mm socket to counter hold it you could go the other way you can get a 16 mil regular 16 mil wrench and then use the ratchet in order to [Music] turn all right with that put this rubber plug back in all right put this trim back in get these back in and that is it so that's it guys as you saw it really wasn't that big a deal as long as you know how to do it as long as you have the right tools you can definitely do it yourself um please check out OEM Bimmer parts
