After testing diesel and gas heaters for the overlanding and camping world for the last 6 years, it takes a lot to get me genuinely excited about something new. Before heading out of town, I met with the owners of Houswin and got a live demonstration of a heater that honestly surprised me - because it’s doing something I haven’t seen before in this space. This is a self-generating portable diesel heater designed for off-grid use… meaning it produces its own power while running and doesn’t rely on an external battery or power station. In this video, I’m sharing: ✔️ My first impressions after a live demo with the owners ✔️ Why this heater stands out from anything I’ve tested so far ✔️ The on-paper specs and claimed features ✔️ A look at the unit sitting here in my studio ✔️ Why I’m genuinely excited about its potential for winter camping ⚠️ Important: This is NOT a full field test yet. Right now, we’re looking at specs, design, and first impressions. Once I get back in town, I’ll be taking this heater into the field for a real-world demonstration so we can see how it performs in actual overlanding and winter camping conditions. About This Video

I’ve been testing diesel and gas heaters for the overlanding and camping world for the last six years, and it takes a lot to genuinely impress me. But after a meeting and live demo with the owners of Houswin, I walked away with that “stupid grin” on my face—because this is the first heater I’ve seen that eliminates the external power requirement entirely. No battery, no power station, no 12-volt hookup, no extension cord. You pour in diesel, load the four internal batteries to start it, and then the unit generates its own electricity from the heat it produces to keep itself running (and it even recharges those batteries). In this video I’m sharing first impressions, the claimed specs, and why this matters if you’ve ever dealt with the hassle of powering a heater in a tent or worrying about draining your rig’s battery overnight. On paper, it’s rated around 15,000–20,000 BTU, with a claimed 13–15 hours per gallon of diesel, in a compact ~31 lb package with USB/USB-C ports up top. This is not a full field test yet—when I get back in town, I’m taking it out for a real-world run to see if it lives up to the promise in actual winter camping conditions.
