In this one I do a straight-up head to head between the Friedman IR-X and the Friedman IR-J. I’m not trying to overcomplicate it—I just wanted to hear how each unit reacts in real playing situations, with riff-heavy play-throughs and the kind of tones people actually buy these for. I start with the IR-J and run it with my Kiesel Aries, then swap over to a Texas Toast SSD so you can hear how the front end responds to different guitars and pickups. After the play-through sections, I drop both sounds into a quick “in the mix” check. That part matters because a tone that feels huge in the room doesn’t always sit right once you add drums and bass. The whole point here is to give you enough real-world context to decide which box fits your rig: the IR-X vs IR-J, how they feel under the fingers, and what they do when you’re not just playing solo.
