In this video I’m finally getting around to checking out the JHS Hard Drive. It’s one of those pedals that’s been on my “I need to try that” list for a while, and this is me putting it on the board and seeing what it actually does in a real-world, riff-first context. I’m approaching it like I do most high-gain stuff on the channel: play-through style, lots of chugs and chunky rhythm parts, and focusing on how the distortion feels under the fingers—not just how it sounds in a quick clip. My goal here is to get a clear read on whether the Hard Drive can hang as a main high-gain distortion, where it sits in a mix, and how usable it is for the kinds of tones I actually play.
